  • What a great start to the last week of school...

My economics classThe economics party was great. It was sunny, and we had plenty of food. The fruit that I brought turned out to be quite popular too, even if two other people also brought fruit. I brought speakers so I could share my music with the class. It's not often when I get a chance to let other people listen to "Hang on Kids" and "Dan ma fusée". One thing I like about my economics class is that we can talk about anything. Since it's the end of the year, the topic naturally goes to future plans. Apparently, most people in this class think I'm going to do science research. Well, in some ways it's better than having someone insist on telling me that I want to be an artist.

Trust me, I can paint better than thisSpeaking of art, I actually had a chance to paint today, because it's part of the chemistry of art option. The teacher commented that at least our chemistry is better than our art. Well, I can tell you that I can paint better than this if I had more colours to choose from. (Of course, I can always say "I'm a night person and I just can't do these things properly during the day", and I'd be able to back it up with everything I did in my outside classes.) These ones weren't mixed that well to start with, and they go murky when mixed. It also looked better before it dried. At least this one actually looks like a flower, unlike that time last year when everyone thought my flowers were leaves.

Plans were made in maths class for the final lesson. Somehow, the teacher thinks that I'm going to tell the maths scientist, and she looked my way and said don't tell. I asked her if that was directed at me, and she said yes. As if I would tell? I'm not going to ruin the plans. There's enough to talk about in roll call without mentioning these things. Today there was a visitor. Come to think of it, I must've looked quite silly in front of the visitor, pretending to be angry at the maths scientist for various little things the way I always did. Well, it doesn't matter since it's the last week of school anyway. There I go again, more about roll call, even if so many other things happened today.

  • Look what I got!

I remember getting a credit for the economics competition last year. This time, I got a distinction!
    Look at my certificate!

Look carefully, the text is on the backing paperToday in maths the teacher was giving out the reissued assessment marks on a sticky label, and they didn't peel properly. It turned out that they were printed on the wrong side, as in on the backing and not the sticky paper. Look carefully at the picture, the text is on the backing paper. I pointed it out to the teacher even though it wasn't very important, and she said "Just shows how some people can't print. Guess who printed these!", and somehow it was obvious enough who she was talking about. Let's just say I'll bring the label to roll call tomorrow. xD

Wait, that almost sounds as if I'm looking forward to roll call. How awkward. Roll call is always awkward in Booralee group 2. I don't look forward to roll call at all.

  • I was on TV!

What a place! The most special thing that happened today was the economics excursion. It was to the conference between the RBA people and House of Representatives economics committee in Tattersalls Cafe in the city. Me and the others from my school actually arrived late, so there weren't enough seats for us to sit together. Somehow, I ended up sitting right at the front, behind the governer of the RBA. It was both a good thing and a bad thing.

This doesn't show how bright that light really wasAs you can see from this picture, the worst thing about sitting right at the front was that there was a bright light right in front of me. It was also quite awkward because the person on my left was using his phone to record what the speakers said, and then there was someone else on my right too, and I had my vest with the very full pockets so I had to try to keep curled up. It was even worse when it was time for a break, as the person right in front of me dropped his chair when he was getting up, and guess where it fell! Right on my knees. Overall, it was a very boring excursion. Sure, I could hear everything from where I was sitting, but it's mainly things that I didn't really understand anyway, and it's not really going to be much help for the HSC. I had a feeling that the photographers weren't very happy about me sitting right behind Mr Macfarlane. They must've been trying to get him in the photos while not having me in it.

In the evening when I got home, I realised that there were people filming it as well, and guess what, it was on TV, and I even saw myself peeking out from behind Mr Macfarlane.

It was a very boring excursion, but how often do you get to go somewhere like that?

    All these important people...My group

  • Yay!

    First of all...
    Happy birthday to Leighann!

The trials are over! Yay! The physics exam was another one where I had an hour left at the end. The maths ones were the ones that I had to write the whole time and still not finish. If only I can have the extra time in physics for maths instead... xD I picked out another misplaced apostrophe in this paper. I even giggled right there. I'm sure someone caught my giggle. Oops!

  • Good point...

Well, as someone pointed out, it's our last "first day back" at school. That's actually an interesting way of looking at it.

I had a good start this day. Luckily enough, I didn't get another maths question from roll call when showing off my sketch, and I'm not getting ignored either.

It was a very tiring day though.

  • Another somewhat obligatory "end of holiday" post.

Well, there goes another holiday. Tomorrow, my very last term of school will start. Yay!

Am I looking forward to going back to school, or am I looking forward to it being the very last term of school? Ever since I came to this school, I've never dreaded school at all, but even then, I'm still looking forward to it ending. As much fun as it is, the only reason why I came here was so that I can get out of school half a year earlier.

Of course, as usual I haven't been doing as much work as I should have during the holidays. Instead, I sit around and read about declensions, conjugations, polysynthetic languages and all that. Typical. Another interest that I'm picking up. Well, not really a new one, I've been into it for a few months now. Actually, I'm just getting into more details. I've always been into randomly translating words. Now I'm just reading on more about linguistics, and still trying to learn to read three different languages. I'm kind of making progress with Latin. At least I get what the difference between the conjugations are. I've also been looking at how chemicals are named in different languages. For example, in English, generally it's the more positive atom in a compound that goes first, so for example it's "carbon dioxide" in English, as opposed to "二氧化碳" in Chinese or "dioxyde de carbone" in French. It seems like that it's the Germanic languages (such as English and German) that have the positive part first, and the Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish) and East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) have it the other way around. That's all I managed to figure out. I should really have done more chemistry homework instead of reading this multilingual chemistry. xD

Of course, I've been sketching during this holiday too. I wonder if the maths scientist will give me another maths question if I show him the drawing. xD (If that happens, I would expect someone in year 11 to say "A maths question on the first day of term? That's so CRUEL!" xDDD) Well, may be he won't even notice me, since towards the end of last term it seems like that we're running out of stuff to talk about.

  • It's over... at long last?

Well, even the outside class is over for this term. This one is the most difficult one I've taken there. Let's see what I've made in this whole term:

A whole term and this is all I've made

I know, these are very "organic". xD I know that this usage of the word "organic" isn't very common. It's almost our inside joke?

These probably won't even last that long, especially the ones on the right because they haven't been annealed.

As much as I want to, I'm not going back next term or the one after that. I wonder if I'll ever go there again. May be next year. By then, I finally won't be shocking everyone else when I tell them what I do during the day.

Typical. More stuff on outside classes when I should really get started on my homework. It's halfway through the holiday and I haven't started on any of it.

  • Yay!

This new monitor is great - literally.

    24 inches! YAY!

Well, it would've been better if there are more correctly proportioned screen resolutions to choose from, but that's the problem of the adaptor and not the monitor itself.

  • Another obligatory c'est les vacances post

C'est les vacances! (Yes, I still like that song. xD)

As usual... I collapsed as soon as I got home after school on the last day of term.

Well, the term is over at school, but I still have two more lessons in my outside activity. Last term (even though I didn't join any class there) it was the school that had two extra weeks, now it's the other way around.

I hardly ever write here any more. I'm sure something interesting must've happened recently. Hmm, let's see. Yesterday there was the chemistry teacher trying on someone's jersey. It's a medium, and it actually fits him quite well. My jersey is a large, so imagine how loose that is on me if a medium is big enough for that teacher.

Oh, and it was so foggy yesterday morning that everything outside was covered in white.

  • How did that happen?

How did I manage to delete a file without ever noticing?

Or may be it's more how did I ever notice that I deleted the file when I don't even need it?

Or may be it should be why do I even care that it's gone when I don't even intend to open that file again any time soon?

    I'm such a pack rat.

Actually, why am I writing about this when I have an assessment starting at 7 am tomorrow?

If anyone in my maths class sees this: do you know how to do part e? I don't. It'd be nice to know if anyone else does. Not expecting anyone to help me, but it'd be nice to know if I'm the only one.
