Month: July 2006

  • Good point…

Well, as someone pointed out, it’s our last “first day back” at school. That’s actually an interesting way of looking at it.

I had a good start this day. Luckily enough, I didn’t get another maths question from roll call when showing off my sketch, and I’m not getting ignored either.

It was a very tiring day though.

  • Another somewhat obligatory “end of holiday” post.

Well, there goes another holiday. Tomorrow, my very last term of school will start. Yay!

Am I looking forward to going back to school, or am I looking forward to it being the very last term of school? Ever since I came to this school, I’ve never dreaded school at all, but even then, I’m still looking forward to it ending. As much fun as it is, the only reason why I came here was so that I can get out of school half a year earlier.

Of course, as usual I haven’t been doing as much work as I should have during the holidays. Instead, I sit around and read about declensions, conjugations, polysynthetic languages and all that. Typical. Another interest that I’m picking up. Well, not really a new one, I’ve been into it for a few months now. Actually, I’m just getting into more details. I’ve always been into randomly translating words. Now I’m just reading on more about linguistics, and still trying to learn to read three different languages. I’m kind of making progress with Latin. At least I get what the difference between the conjugations are. I’ve also been looking at how chemicals are named in different languages. For example, in English, generally it’s the more positive atom in a compound that goes first, so for example it’s “carbon dioxide” in English, as opposed to “二氧化碳” in Chinese or “dioxyde de carbone” in French. It seems like that it’s the Germanic languages (such as English and German) that have the positive part first, and the Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish) and East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) have it the other way around. That’s all I managed to figure out. I should really have done more chemistry homework instead of reading this multilingual chemistry. xD

Of course, I’ve been sketching during this holiday too. I wonder if the maths scientist will give me another maths question if I show him the drawing. xD (If that happens, I would expect someone in year 11 to say “A maths question on the first day of term? That’s so CRUEL!” xDDD) Well, may be he won’t even notice me, since towards the end of last term it seems like that we’re running out of stuff to talk about.

  • It’s over… at long last?

Well, even the outside class is over for this term. This one is the most difficult one I’ve taken there. Let’s see what I’ve made in this whole term:

A whole term and this is all I've made

I know, these are very “organic”. xD I know that this usage of the word “organic” isn’t very common. It’s almost our inside joke?

These probably won’t even last that long, especially the ones on the right because they haven’t been annealed.

As much as I want to, I’m not going back next term or the one after that. I wonder if I’ll ever go there again. May be next year. By then, I finally won’t be shocking everyone else when I tell them what I do during the day.

Typical. More stuff on outside classes when I should really get started on my homework. It’s halfway through the holiday and I haven’t started on any of it.
