Month: October 2005

  • Great. Camp starts tomorrow. It’s only right after daylight saving started too. Knowing me, I won’t be able to sleep tonight, but I’ll somehow manage to force myself to be awake tomorrow, and then I’ll collapse at about three or four in the afternoon.

When daylight saving time ended last time, I remember myself stressing over having to fix the time zone settings on all my internet accounts. This time, I should have more accounts to change the settings for, but somehow I just… don’t care now. May be now I simply have so many accounts all over the place that I can’t keep track of all of them.

This time there’s no fifteen hour time difference week (between Sydney and Massachusetts) either. Daylight saving time started here right as it ended in the USA.

Even though I’ll be getting my new time table after camp, I’ve already worked out most of it – I’m kind of looking forward to seeing if I’m right. This is what I’ve worked out so far. (Blank indicates I have no idea what I have)

    Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
    1a/1b Economics Spare(?) Maths Chemistry
2a/2b Chemistry Physics Spare Economics Maths
    3a/3b Maths Physics Spare

I think I might have the chemistry and physics lessons the wrong way around for Thursdays, and in addition to the lessons in the normal time table I’ll have extension 2 maths on Tuesday before school and Friday after school. Faith in society is probably Tuesday 1a or 1b, since the religion class that I used to be in is in that line, so I won’t have the full double spare.

I remember that I hoped for a Tuesday morning spare before I’ve been told that maths extension 2 is on Tuesday morning before the normal school time table. How horrible is that? I get the spare that I wanted, but not only do I not get to come to school late, I have to come extra early! What’s more, I can’t go home in my Friday afternoon spare either. Oh why did I choose extension 2 maths?

Now I can hope for a spare on Wednesday afternoon (that would mean English on Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning) – I have a one in three chance of getting it – at least if the chances are equal between the three possibilities. Actually, I doubt that it’ll actually be the case, since English probably isn’t going to be on Tuesday because it’s the day when the extension English class runs, so it’ll be Wednesday and Friday.

Of course, I could be wrong about all of this. Wouldn’t that be great to find out that I’m actually wrong and my time table is actually great? Well, if I’m right, my time table isn’t so good. If I’m wrong, everyone will know that I’m actually really bad at solving puzzles. Reminds me of the song Oh Sister by Ghost Mice – “And I hope that you are right, and I hope that I am wrong, and I hope those are more than words to a silly song” – so catchy…

OK, camp hasn’t even started yet and I’m already worrying about after camp. I shouldn’t even be online right now, this isn’t going to help me fall asleep.

  • I HATE PACKING!!!

Really, while I’m sure that camp will be great once I get there, until I actually get there I’ll be thinking that it’s not really worth it. Just having to pack all the stuff that I need to bring is a serious problem… How am I supposed to fit two towels and enough clothes for four days in one bag? Not to mention that I’ll need to bring a pillow. I’m seriously considering not bringing one and just roll up my coat and use it as a pillow. Sure, my sister said that it’s normal to carry the pillow separately and everyone here does that, but even without the pillow I still have too much.

I think the real reason why I’m complaining so much is because I’ll miss a model session of my sculpture class. I told the teacher that I won’t be there on week four and she still books the model for that week. Well, it’s supposedly a really overbooked one, so may be this is the only week they could get her.

Actually, may be it’s because I’ve had too much in the past two weeks – I was out two evenings in a row in week two, and then I had to get up extra early twice in week three. I’ve been really grumpy this week for no reason that I can think of. I must’ve been too tired.

  • Chemistry is getting even more repetitive!!! I should’ve kept biology… See how indecisive I am? I haven’t even got my new time table yet and I’m already doubting my subject choices. At least we aren’t having the regular teacher today, and the one that we had today is better. Someone in the class even asked him if he can be our teacher… xD Really shows how bad our regular teacher is.

I wasn’t going to go to religion today, but my plan didn’t go on well because the teacher must have forgotten about me, so I had to go to religion. The video was alright, and the lesson ended early again. That’s good enough. It’s the last one I’ll have too.

  • More social justice today. It was boring. In the second session we were supposed to give each other a massage. That reminded me of the geography field trip.

We had a chapel service after lunch. Needless to say, that was boring too, although at least the music was quite good. I almost fell asleep during one of the reflections – it doesn’t help that it’s Tuesday and I had to come in at 7:30 for planning the synchronised swim. If I’m not coping well with this, I won’t survive the 7:00 am maths classes. The maths teacher said it’d be mean to make the choir people quit choir for maths, well, I now have to quit sculpture for maths.

In case you couldn’t tell, I’m just saying it. So what if I have sculpture class? It’s not a direct clash. Sculpture class isn’t at school either. I wouldn’t expect the class (maths, not sculpture) to be changed just for me. I’m definitely going to keep going this term. (Both of them, even if it means that I’ll be falling asleep in one of my lessons on Tuesday!)

  • Group knitting!

Social justice day was boring. Who wants to listen to those long boring speeches? Not me. The first part was the worse. I liked the knitting session though. I haven’t done much knitting in the past year or two – I keep losing my needles and never finish anything. I keep getting distracted too – it’s totally “one of these day I’m gonna stop saying one of these days” for me.

Not having to go to lessons was actually a good thing because I had so much homework to catch up on, but there’s still maths extension 2 even if the regular lessons are cancelled. What’s more, the class has decided on lesson times – which turn out to be the worst possible: Tuesday morning 7:00 am! May be it’ll mean no more sculpture for me? No, it won’t. I’m not quitting sculpture (at least not until the end of this term) even if it means falling asleep in maths.

    Sculpture

Sculpture class was alright. No model today, and most of the class is here. I spent most of the lesson hollowing out the same piece that I’ve been working on for the last two lessons. I’m going to miss my next lesson – I told the teacher about it twice, and she still scheduled the model for next week. Apparently a really popular one that’s hard to get too. Missing the next lesson also means that I won’t get to work on my current piece until two weeks later. It doesn’t help that I’ll probably be late for the lesson on that week, because of… guess what, extension 2 maths! Such bad timing! If this is anything to go by, I’m going to hate the new time table.

  • I just came home from the social! I’m glad that I went. It was fun!

We were on this boat called the Lady Rose Catamaran.

Look at the pretty strobe lights! It was still dark enough for me to spotlight people with my torch though.
    Colourful lights!

I never expected myself to be able to dance for the whole time. I took lots of photos though, even with people whose names I don’t remember…

I won the “most creative + interesting web developer” award!

the 'most creative + interesting web developer' award

I thought that if I got an award it’d be the weird obsession one that some people voted me for, but I got this one, and it was the first award to be announced too. This site is famous! Yay! xD

  • Today was a good day at school.

I got the economics competition results back, and I was one of the four people in my class that got credit. No one in the class got distinction either.

    Economics competition certificate

In chemistry, we were doing experiments – the first one was really repetitive! May be I should’ve kept biology instead – chemistry seems to be getting more and more repetitive, and I think biology is starting to stop being repetitive. Oh well, too late. I like chemistry better anyway. The second experiment was cool – colour changes are fun! Look what Nancy has done!

    Ooh, impressive!

    Isn’t it impressive?

During lunch time, I finally started on what I planned. I might even get to finish it tomorrow!

The video in religion class finished early. Just what I needed!

  • Another busy Monday… Well, not so busy this week because the after school maths class was cancelled, but still. My evening class is still the main reason why I’m so busy. Hardly anyone turned up today, it was so quiet! I was the first one to arrive, and three other people turned up about ten minutes late. Typical. I’m always early for everything?

No photos tonight because I just continued on what I was doing last week. Hopefully I can finish it off next week and fire it. Wait, I’ll miss the lesson on week four, so it’d be like half way through the term by the time I finish this, glazing and firing and all that. I was hoping to have a chance to make clay mice… Oh well, there’ll still be half a term to go. Meaning that there’ll be at least half a term when I turn up to school on Tuesday morning really tired. I hope I get a Tuesday morning spare when I get my new timetable.

  • Look at this! I’m the featured columnist at Advicenators today! Yay!!!
    Look! I'm featured!

  • You know you have more than enough in your pencil case when… someone calls you a walking stationery shop. Of course, I expected that – if Serena is “candy shop” then I’m definitely qualified to be “stationery shop”.

Really, a teacher called me a stationery shop and went through my pencil case today… It was embarrassing, she saw the knife that I had in there, and there comes the joke that I have a bomb in the boxes that contained staples.

I should sit at the back next time. Or may be get an opaque pencil case. (well may be not, since that’ll just make her look again)

Oh well, at least she wasn’t going through my black bag. If she did that I’d be attacking her with the knife.
