Month: September 2005

  • It’s my birthday today! I’m 16 now. I haven’t been doing much during the holiday – I never actually started on anything that I planned, not that I planned that much for this holiday, but still.

I went out for lunch and dinner today – I hope you’re not hungry, because you will be after you see all the photos I put here! The tradition: photos of what we ate! Since there’s four of us…

    My family

…there’s going to be a lot of food!

    The desserts:
    CheeseChocolate cake
    Souffle
    And since it’s my birthday:
    Sparkly!Chocolate fromage

This is the present that I got this year. Actually, I received it earlier on, and I got some new clothes today too.
    A new MP3 player!

It’s already halfway through the holidays. I’m not dreading school that much. No surprise now, I haven’t been dreading school at all ever since I came here.

  • Typical, I was feeling unwell as soon as I got home after the last day of term. So unwell that I didn’t even update this straight away. The long assembly definitely didn’t help.

I added photos to the F22 notice board.

    Before…
    Before

    …and after.
    After

It still has that dull background, may be I’ll add more to it. I should start on the Booralee notice board too, even though some other people said they’ll do it.

  • Year 11, busy decorating the field for the year 12 farewell lunch:

    Balloons!More balloons!

    Our banner:
    Booralee

We had to serve lunch to the others too: (of course, it doesn’t take everyone in year 11 to serve the food, so I went up and took this instead)
    Line up for lunch

The special table for year 12:
No idea who they are, I only know that they're in year 12

    It’s Laura’s last day too:
    Laura and Lani
May be I’ll see Laura around some time soon.

  • Even though I didn’t have my normal busy Monday, yesterday I was so tired that I didn’t bother to write here.

I went to buy textbooks in the afternoon, and the only book that they didn’t have in stock was the economics book. I walked there and back, but even then, the distance that I needed to walk with the books was less than the distance that I would have to walk if I ordered the books and had them delivered to the school. May be that’s why I was so tired.

It was parent-teacher evening. Luckily, the evil teacher who said I’ll get bad comments because I chose such a late time actually said that I was good. It was actually quite obvious that he just wanted to leave as soon as possible, since his bottle of Coke was empty and he said he only had four hours of sleep the night before. At least I didn’t make him wait half an hour. One other teacher had to sit there for half an hour because of the time that I chose, but she said it was alright. No nasty jokes either.

Today wasn’t such a good day. The train was late in the morning, but at least I wasn’t late for school. Assembly went over time too. Somehow I was really tired during maths. I started to rearrange the notice board during physics. May be I should fix the house notice board too.

I handed in the subject change form. I’ll drop biology. I decided that earlier on, but I had second thoughts last night. I almost wish that I never did economics, that way I wouldn’t have to choose between economics and biology. I don’t know why I was even hesitating about it, I hate my biology lessons. They’re boring and repetitive. May be it’s simply the idea of doing all three sciences that I like. I know that next term I’ll wish that I dropped economics instead, but I already handed the form in. At least now I can’t do anything about it so I can stop thinking about it.

  • Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve actually stayed home on Monday evening. No fabric class today because we’ve had our last lesson this term. It’s so different not being busy on Monday; I’m so used to it now.

It’s great to have some free time on Monday, but I think I’ll go back next term.

  • It’s not even Monday, but I’m in my fabric class! Indigo has to be done outside, so we’re there on Saturday morning.

The four pieces on the left are mineWith all of this on the lawn, it's a surprise that it's still green

The four pieces on the left are mine. It’s all indigo – so blue! With all of this on the lawn, it’s a surprise that it’s still green, but according to Marion, the tree that shades our vat of indigo is so healthy because she waters it with the indigo. (Not supposed to let it drip back into the container because that introduces oxygen to the mixture)

That’s the last lesson of this term, which means the following Monday will not be a busy day.

Wait, it’s still going to be a relatively busy day because of extension 2 maths.

  • What a bad start to the day – I was one minute late for the train, and
the doors were closing when I got there. I tried to jump in but I
didn’t make it. Worse of all, the station guard yelled “what are you
doing?” from the other side of the platform. Now that was awkward!

    Biology
lessons are getting repetitive again. Get on with the detail already!
That said, it seems like that the repetition is supposed to be new. No
wonder I don’t like it and end up getting a really bad course mark
because I can’t be bothered to do anything.

    Libby had her
birthday party after school. I was the only one there who actually
decided to take photos. I’m putting this somewhat embarrassing one up:

All of us in party hats!

To whoever that said “hey! how come your not in any pictures?” in the chatterbox: here you go, I’m in this one.

  • Yesterday, when I looked up the new train times, I was worried. The website said that all the trains are going to terminate at Central and I’ll have to connect from there if I needed to go any further. Luckily, it wasn’t true.

Today in roll call I reminded the class that it’s our form tutor’s birthday today. Surprisingly, none of them seemed to have remembered.

I got my economics and English results back today. I got 63/100 for economics, which isn’t good but at least I passed. (I didn’t really expect to) As for English, it looked like that I failed but after I adjust the marks of each paper to be out of 50, I got exactly 50% on each of them. I failed the English oral though. I’ll have to do standard English next year.

Oh well, over with the bad news. It’s Monday, so guess what.

    My new dress!A fake apron?

I did these tonight. I think I smudged them a bit, but it doesn’t really matter.

I hope it doesn’t rain on Saturday!

  • Let’s start with a photo that I took on the way to the train station:

    Emily and Vivien

Look at the interesting optical illusion of two suns from my window!

    Two suns?

Since I’m updating this anyway, I might as well post the results of the exams that I’ve got back so far:
    Chemistry (take-home assessment): 60.5/66 (91.6%)
    Chemistry (exam): 63.5/75 (84.6%)
    Maths (2 unit): 64/80 (80%)
    Maths (3 unit): 45/60 (75%)
    Physics: 54.5/75 (72.6%)
    Biology: 50/75 (66.6%)
    Religion: 32/50 (64%)

Luckily, nothing too bad so far. (I won’t be so happy when I get English and economics back…)

    For
the chemistry ones I got an extra mark each when the teacher was going
over the paper with the class. Really shows how bad our teacher is at
    marking?
