Month: August 2005

  • It was mufti day at school today, which means I finally have a chance to wear the colourful t-shirt that used to be my Opera House t-shirt to school! The Jeans For Genes Day badge is actually quite nice too.

Yesterday in chemistry someone in my class hid the teacher's Coke, and this morning in roll call it was still there. I told my form tutor, who said "he deserves it". xD

I can't help noticing that I've actually done the circle geometry stuff that I'm doing in maths now when I was in year 10, and I hardly remember any of it, but I remember having done it. This was the stuff I never really understood, it really shows how I was hiding things at that time. I can see this entry turning into one of my very typical things-here-are-different-and-I-changed-so-much rants, so I'll stop here.

  • ① Total volume of music files on the PC?
1.93 GB, including songs that I sang and a flash file and some of the .wav files that I kept after converting to mp3. There are only about 200 songs that I actually listen to.

② Song listening to at the moment:
    Smoke Dreams by Jill Sobule

    ③ Last CD bought:
I don't have any music CDs, and I don't remember the last game CD I bought either.

④ 5 songs that are special to me through those I listen to often: (not my favourites though)

Heroes by Jill Sobule - That's the song I got the tune for "Why Is Our School So Imperfect" from
(For anyone in my current school reading this, it's about my last school)
We Only Come Out At Night by the Smashing Pumpkins - Leighann's theme song!
Lemon Tree by Fool's Garden - "I'm wasting my time I've got nothing to do [...] nothing ever happens" Just like me, or at least just like what I used to be.
Rainy Day Parade by Jill Sobule - "I used to have the world in my handbag" This is just funny, and I have too much in my bag too.

⑤ 5 people to whom I'm passing the baton:
Leighann (you haven't got it yet, have you?)
Leeann and Alison (well you share a site so either of you filling it out is alright)
    Annie
Alice (if you actually see this)
    Ashley

Wow, all their names either start with L or A.

  • I ask so many questions at school. In maths I asked about one question (that the teacher wrote on the board) twice (to point out how the teacher didn't give enough information in the question), and in physics the teacher actually said "want to stay back to ask questions?", that made me notice how many questions I'm asking. Again, I'm asking questions even if I know the answer. How did I become like this? I used to be the one that hid at the back avoiding attention.

    I just made this:
    Look at my new necklace!

The big beads are the beads from Monday. They're made with felt, but is it still felt if I've burnt them? Or is that just acrylic now? The felt was made with acrylic, but what is it after it's been burnt?

Threading this necklace up actually took about 2 hours, because of all the small beads. Really shows how slow I am, and knowing me I'll probably hardly ever wear it.

  • Monday is always busy day for me, but somehow it didn't feel so busy today. Of course, fabric club goes on as usual, and I have more photos to show off. We're making felt beads today.
From cutting out strips of felt and rolling them on the skewers, to burning them with the heat gun and glazing:
Skewers of feltLook what I'm doing!
BURN IT!!!The colours look weird after they melt
This is how it looks at the end

I actually asked a weird question too. Marion mentioned quicksilver and I blurted out "what's quicksilver?" even though I know what quicksilver is. Marion said "don't they teach you anything at school?".

This time you get to see the other people in the class too: let me introduce Anna (the only other year 11 girl in the class), Andrea (the newest member of the class), and Rysia (AKA the new Statue of Liberty)
