  • You know you need more chairs when…

…you’re inviting someone over for dinner, and you asked them to “B.Y.O.C.” (Bring your own chair!)

…those guests didn’t bring chairs, so you and one of the guests end up having to sit on high bar chairs.
    Notice what I'm sitting on!

…or when you decide that you’ll rather sit on the floor than on those uncomfortable bar chairs.
I think I'm better off sitting on the floor

This isn’t the first time either, but who has the space to keep extra chairs just for the occasional guests? Not me… There’s a computer chair in my room, but I can’t get it out of the door, which reminds me…

You know you need to rearrange your furniture when…

…you can’t get a chair out of your room for your poor guest who end up having to sit on a bar chair that’s too high for your dinner table.

…you can’t stay at your desk during certain times of the day because of the direct sunlight. (Or may be that’s a reason to get curtains, but I already have curtains and they aren’t really much help…)

…you can’t clean your windows. (Not that it’s such a serious problem, but still…)

…you make a list like this.

Well, there you go, another list that’ll never make it at Keepers…

  • It’s been a year since Siu Bo died… It didn’t seem like that long, and yet so much have happened… I wonder what would’ve happened when I decided to leave Hong Kong if Siu Bo didn’t die… May be I would’ve stayed there if Siu Bo was still alive? May be it would’ve been sent to someone else? May be… Well, the fact is that it died, and when I posted an entry here about that, no one commented, but on my next entry after that, someone commented “cute pet” because of all the photos that I posted, even though the entry was there to announce that it died… I had a memorial of it on this page too…

Wow, that’s a lot on a pet that died a year ago… Let’s see if I’ll still remember this next year…

Typical for me to write entries like this…
“It’s been a year since *something*… *my comment here* Let’s see if I’ll still remember this next year… (Of course I will)”

  • Happy Birthday Leeann!!!

  • Painting on silk What do you expect? Of course I’ll post about fabric club every Monday! We’re working on silk today… What do you think about the design that I painted? Does it look like flowers, leaves, or stars? Looks like that whatever they’re supposed to be, they’ll be having an identity crisis…
  • Look at me!!! Don’t I look cool in my “bad guy” costume? I’m so glad that we have this theme… YAY for Booralee!!!
    Don't move!
    LOOK AT ME!!!
    Booralee

For once, the events aren’t compulsory, but I did the 100m race and long jump anyway… It rained, the annoying thing being that the rain stops for a while and then comes back… I saw a rainbow, too bad I didn’t get a good picture of it, I only have one when you can only just see the colours, and I’m not going to put that here…

This time, I’m not chosen as official photographer or anything, but I still took photos of random people doing the events…

    High jump
    Shot put
    Javelin

My gun certainly got me a lot of attention!
    Nicky and Lani
Me and... I don't know who this is. I know, I'm really bad with names
    The Booralee bad girls battle
Not sure who these are, but who cares

  • My second time to the fabric club… We’re doing block printing today, on the painted fabric from last week…

Carving a block To block print, of course you would need a block first… Burning designs into the polystyrene is much easier than carving it with a knife…

After carving the block, it’s rolling paint on it! Typical how the flaws you never noticed when carving the block only show up when you have paint on the block… At least this block was definitely better than the ones I made at school when I was in year 8… (or was it 9? I don’t remember…) Rolling paint

Printing Now for the printing… One here, and one there, and another one here… This is repetitive! Having to roll the paint on each time was why it took so long…

This is the fabric I painted last week… When I was painting it, at first it seemed like that I was going to mess it up, but now it looks a bit better when it’s dry… Before block printing

After block printing On second thoughts, even if I didn’t mess it up the first time, the block printing definitely did…

Well, with blocks like this, I really shouldn’t be expecting much… The blue block didn’t even print properly… Blocks
  • Stuff I bought Look what I bought! All this and I still don’t have what I was looking for… Typical, it’s everywhere when you’re not looking, but when you are looking it’s impossible to find any… I doubt that I’ll find what I’m looking for in Chatswood… Oh well, I don’t really need it that much…
  • Fabric club Fabric club is FUN! I never expected all the chemistry in it though… Not that I have to know the chemistry, but somehow I wasn’t really expecting the fabric club teacher to tell us that the dyes hydrolyse… (That’s why they have to be used within three hours of mixing, the dye loses its strength when it reacts with itself…)

When I talk to some of my friends at school, somehow I think they’re like what I used to be… That just doesn’t sound right, especially since that those people are actually about a year older than me… They drift through their easy classes, never asking for more, the same way I once did… It’s only normal that they want to do that, but I wonder if they’ll ever be like what I’m now, regretting it and all that… Should I be warning them?

  • I’m back from biology camp!

The cabin at bio camp This is the cabin I stayed in… It looks just like any other camp cabin, surrounded by trees and all that… Still looks fun, doesn’t it? Well, wait till you see what’s inside… The first night in there was so depressing that I started on a song to complain about it…
See the weak lights? That’s all we had in the cabin… Same goes for all the other buildings in the camp… I had my bright Surefire torch, but I’ve been using it so much that the batteries ran out on the first night… I guess that’s what I get for showing off… Look at the pathetic lighting...
The washroom This is the building with the toilets and showers… That’s right, the toilets and showers are in a separate building from the cabins… What’s worse than having to walk all the way to the toilet in the dark and worrying that it might rain? This is part of the reason why the first night was so bad, it rained during the day so I was worried that it’ll rain at night…
This is the place where we eat… This is also the area with the best lighting, and even then it’s still too dark for us to do much writing at night… Somehow I told the teachers a lot when I was chatting with them during dinner… I’ve let on the fact that I carry lots of random stuff in my bag… Later on, one teacher needed a safety pin and it was obvious who to ask first… Cook shed
Group photo! A group photo! Obviously, I didn’t take it… It wouldn’t be on my camera if it wasn’t for that the teacher wanted this and his camera wasn’t working… After this, it was finally time to get on the bus back to Sydney… I’m glad to be home, although just after I finished the song, the rest of the trip was good enough so that I don’t really feel like putting my complain song up… I guess I jinxed it again… (Last time when I made up a complain song about school, it started getting better almost immediately, although at that time I used mainly other people’s complaints for the song)
