Month: February 2005

    • I finally received all my textbooks… It seems like that nothing really happens to me here now that I’ve settled down… Everyday I go to school, and when I get home I just have enough time to go swimming and come online for a while before I have to start doing my homework… In the weekends I go shopping and catch up on school work, and may be I go cycling… I’m just like Lemon Tree…
I’m sitting here in the boring room
It’s just another rainy Sunday afternoon
      I’m wasting my time
      I got nothing to do
      I’m hanging around
      I’m waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

OK, I’m not waiting for anyone, but nothing ever happens! Not that much happens when I was in Hong Kong, but it just feels so much more obvious here…
While I’m on the Lemon Tree theme, this applies to me too:

Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don’t want to sit on the lemon-tree

Reminds me of how the teachers said I need to work with the others… That’s one thing I always need to work on…

May be one of the reasons why everything seems so repetitive is because I chose to take all three sciences, the science lessons here are totally repetitive! May be that’s good since it means I don’t have that much catching up to do, but it’s almost like doing all of last year’s work all over again!

Well, the most interesting thing today was that in English class the teacher was showing us that we should use Google Advanced Search for narrowing down details – as if we didn’t know that… I don’t even use the advanced search page to do advanced search… Isn’t it so much easier to just use double quotes and the other operators?

    • Leighann hasn’t been online for a week and I totally miss her… I actually miss her more than some of my friends in Hong Kong even though I’ve never met her in person before…
    • YAY it’s here! The book that I ordered!

Now, when are the textbooks that I ordered going to be available? For chemistry and biology I can get away with not having the book, but I’m actually supposed to read the economics textbook for homework…

    • YAY my room seems so much bigger now that I’ve rearranged the furniture… I should’ve done this earlier…
    • My voice is finally back to normal! It hasn’t really been well ever since I’ve gone back to school… The bad thing is that I go through a pack of Soothers in less than a week… May be my voice is really “fake” like Alison said, and all that squeaking has messed up my voice…
    • I’m still very busy with my school work, and I don’t think it’s because I haven’t settled down yet either… Everything is OK, but I can never spend as much time doing nothing the way I used to… May be it’s actually better this way since I get the challenge that I’ve always wanted… Seems like I’ve said this many times? School here is good, but now I’m quite worried about Monday because I’ll probably get the results for my economics assessment… I had to do the assessment even though I only had a week to catch up a whole term’s work, not to mention that I’ve never studied economics before… I don’t really expect myself to do well in the assessment, so I just hope the teacher doesn’t either… At least she said that this one won’t count for me, but still…
    • I never knew that cars can actually have anything on their license plates… Yesterday I saw this:
    • I’m so glad it’s Friday… My first week at this school seemed like such a long time… I think it’s because I had a hard time catching up… In fact, I felt guilty about it because the maths wouldn’t have been so hard if I stayed in set 1 maths; if only I wasn’t so lazy when I was in year 8… I’ll always regret that, but at least now I’ll know not to let that repeat…
    • Look at this picture! It’s supposed to be me, but this is what you get when the picture’s taken by someone who didn’t realize that the night mode works by long exposure despite being so interested in photography…
    • YAY they delivered the bike that I bought on Sunday! Look at me!!!

THREE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO TAKE THIS QUIZ NOW OR DIE PAINFULLY:
1: Leighann (wait, she already did)
      2: Alice
      3: Alison or Leeann

    • In response to Alice’s comment on my last entry, I wrote “I’ll always remember the good times and the not so good times at school with my friends… It’s time to move on, but what I’ve experienced will be with me for years to come… ” which shows how you’re not reading it carefully! The meaning of what I wrote isn’t that ambiguous, is it?

    • Just because that I’m in Sydney doesn’t mean that I don’t get to celebrate Chinese New Year! Sure, it’s not as same as having a week of holidays, but the food is good! I forgot to take a picture of the lobster, but the other food is good too!

One drawback of eating at the restaurant is that there is a dragon dance, and I hate the drums! In this picture it almost looks like that the dragon is going to eat Jaime…

      Anyway… Happy Chinese New Year!

    • Well, it must seem like that I’m having a lot of fun here… Of course, I like it here… But it’s not all that good, I mean – everything seems harder, and I have a lot to catch up on… Also, in response to a comment from Alison that I don’t like SIS any more: that’s not true! While I like it here, I can’t really compare it with SIS… Sure, the lessons are actually interesting, but it’s just not the same… I had a lot of fun in SIS, especially in year 10 and the first term of year 11… I’ll always remember the good times and the not so good times at school with my friends… It’s time to move on, but what I’ve experienced will be with me for years to come… (wow, that sounds so totally cliché and dramatic and everything like that, but for once I actually mean it, seriously!)
    • It’s my first day back to school! I had quite a good day, I had to go to school earlier than I would normally need to, because I had to collect my time table and see where my locker is, luckily I wasn’t as tired as I expected… Here I have three long lessons each day… Today I had maths, economics and English… Maths was harder than I expected it to be, but I like the challenge… Economics wasn’t as boring as I expected, and it wasn’t too hard either… English was quite hard but then I expected that since I chose advanced English… I also got to sing since there’s a rehearsal for some performance that everyone had to take part in… I think the rest of the week will be good too… This school is definitely better than my last school, and I won’t be writing any songs like “Why is our school so imperfect” about it…
    • Look what Jaime brought home today!

It’s a kitten that’s been brought to the clinic today…
      Now, look who’s jealous!

Oh well, what kind of MoUsYlAnD is this? I always put pictures of cats here…
    • The interview at school went well, and I’ll start school on Monday… The subjects that I chose: Advanced English (English is compulsory), extension maths (I’d expect maths to be compulsory… It’s not, but I think I should take maths), studies of religion (that’s compulsory… If it’s not I wouldn’t be taking it…) economics, chemistry, physics and biology… I think this’ll be much better than what I was doing last term…
